Raipur, May 6 (IANS) Three people were killed and about 30 injured in a coal mine blast Thursday in Chhattisgarh’s Koriya district, an official said.

‘Six workers are still trapped inside the mine that caved in due to the blast. Rescue operations are on,’ Alok Awasthi, district collector of Koriya, told IANS over phone.

The blast took place at Anjani Hill mine of Koriya district’s Chirmiri area when workers of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), the highest profit-making subsidiary of Coal India Limited, were trying to fix a Carbon Monoxide leak.

Koriya district is about 400 km north of state capital Raipur.
