Chennai, May 6 (IANS) AIADMK general secretary J. Jayalalithaa Thursday charged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi with attempting to trivialise the 2G spectrum scam.

In a statement here, she said: ‘In what he believes is smart talk, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M. Karunanidhi has shamelessly played the Dalit card in le affaire A. Raja.’

‘Talking to the media in Delhi, he claimed that ‘the sack Raja campaign’ had reached a crescendo in parliament because the telecom minister was a Dalit!’

Charging that Karunanidhi has trivialised a Rs.100,000 crore scam perpetrated by his partyman, Jayalalithaa said: ‘By this outrageous remark, Karunanidhi hopes to neutralise the Dalit leaders in parliament who are also baying for Raja’s resignation. In the process, he hopes to project himself as a friend and champion of the downtrodden Dalit community.’
