Capt T.D. Hazari won Award of Excellence at the 47th National Maritime Day Grand Finale

Capt T.D. Hazari was honored with the Award of Excellence in the Shipping Industry by the National Maritime Day Celebrations Committee on the grand finale of 47th National Maritime Day  for his significant contribution to the nation and the shipping industry by Honorable Union Minister of Shipping Mr. G. K. Vasan.

National Maritime Day was first celebrated on 5th April, 1964 and is celebrated every year on 5th April. It commences with an inauguration during the Maritime Week, when the honorable Minister of Shipping, Secretary Shipping, Director General of Shipping, Chairman and Managing Director SCI, President INSA, Chairman National Shipping Board and other leading shipping dignitaries, meet the Prime Minister to flag off the Merchant Navy week.

Every year during the Grand Finale of the National Maritime Day, certain luminaries of the shipping industry who have had a long and distinguished career in the industry and have given a significant contribution to the nation and the industry are honored by being given an award of excellence in the shipping industry.

This year Capt. T.D. Hazari was chosen by the National Maritime Day Celebrations Committee for the Award of Excellence at the grand finale of 47th National Maritime Day that was held today. Capt T.D. Hazari, an ex director of The Shipping Corporation of India and currently holding the position of Head of Training & Development Department, Doehle Danautic India Pvt Ltd.

On receiving the award Capt. T.D. Hazari – Head of Training & Development, Doehle Danautic India said, “I’m extremely thankful to the National Maritime Day Celebrations Committee for bestowing such a prestigious award and also for recognizing my contributions and efforts to the industry. During my career tenure, I would also like to express gratitude to The Shipping Corporation of India and Doehle Danautic India for giving me opportunities and also helping in carving my career to such a great heights”.

Capt. T.D. Hazari – Brief Profile

Capt T.D. Hazari (Taru) commenced his sea career after graduation from T.S. Dufferin in June 1964. He joined The Shipping Corporation of India as a Deck Cadet, climbed up the ladder to master, whilst serving in general cargo vessels, light house tender, cadet training ship, bulk carrier, combination carrier and oil tankers including command of VLCCs.

In July 1979, he joined the shore services of SCI and worked in Bulk Carrier & Tanker Division (twice), Technical Services Division, SCI Maritime Training Institute and ISM Cell. Thereafter, he served as a Director in Technical & Offshore Services Division and as a Member of the Board of Directors of SCI. He superannuated in March 2006.

He holds an Extra-Master Certificate of Competency from Board of Trade, U.K. and a Master of Science degree in Maritime Education & Training from World Maritime University, Malmo, Sweden. He is a Fellow of the Company of Master Mariners, life member of Institution of Marine Technologists.

He is working with Doehle Danautic India (DDI) as the Head of Training & Development department and is a member of the Management Team. He develops the training modules for the courses conducted at DDI.

He has been working with Doehle Danautic India since Oct 2006 after his superannuation from SCI.
