Chavan welcomes Kasab verdict

Mumbai, May 6 (IANS) Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan Thursday welcomed the death sentence given to Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone gunman captured alive during the Mumbai terror attack.

‘This was expected. I congratulate the police and the justice dispensing system,’ he said. ‘Pakistan should cooperate with India on the issue of terrorism. I express the hope they will do so.’

Home Minister R.R. Patil said: ‘This is what we expected, and hoped for.’
