Mumbai, May 6 (IANS) After playing a simple girl-next-door, Anushka Sharma has gone in for an image makeover in 'Badmaash Company' where she not only wears stylish clothes but also has a kissing scene with Shahid Kapoor. The model-turned-actress says the script demanded it and it wasn't meant just to attract attention.

'I don't see it as a kissing scene. It's a part of the screenplay. I think cinema is changing and we are not doing (kissing) for the heck of it. We do not need to do this (kiss on screen) to attract attention,' Anushka told IANS in an interview.

'When you see the film, the kind of chemistry Bulbul (her character in the film) and Karan (Shahid) share, the kind of love that's there between them, you will be able to understand that the scene was justified,' said Anushka, who made her debut as a small town girl in 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' opposite Shah Rukh Khan.

The 22-year-old claims the audiences will be able to relate to the characters in the film as all of them represent the middle-class dreams.

'This film is about four friends, their relationships and the trials they go through to achieve their goals. All the characters are extremely relatable because they come from middle-class families with big dreams and aspirations. We have all been like that. Their dreams are really big. They have not got any patience...They want to do it right away,' she said.

Set in Mumbai of the 1990s, 'Badmaash Company' is about four youngsters who start a business and find a way to beat the system.

Anushka's gang in the film comprises Shahid, Vir Das and Miang Chang. And she says they gelled well.

'When we travelled outdoors, we got to spend time with each other...We hung out, ate out, went to the pub. Good that we got along very well because it was a pre-requisite of the film,' said Anushka.

'Badmaash Company' is actor-turned-director Parmeet Sethi's first outing as director. Anushka says Parmeet knew the characters inside out, but was still open to others' ideas.

Anushka enjoys not being a trained actor because it allows her to visualise scenes naturally.

'I quite enjoy the fact that I'm not a trained actor...If you are experienced, you have a certain method of acting, but I haven't discovered that method yet. There is a positive side of not being a trained actor. When I get a scene, I see how naturally it should be done. People call it natural acting and that is also a method,' she said.

Asked if she wants to explore any particular genre, she said: 'No, I am not looking forward to any particular genre. I'm open to doing films of every genre and with different directors. There are so many things that I would love to do - a period love story or an action film.'

But Anushka finds acting a difficult profession and says her hectic schedule leaves her with little time for her friends.

'I never wanted to be an actor. I wanted to remain a model. Had I wanted to be an actor I would have been more observant about actors. After 'Rab Ne...' I realised that it's a very difficult profession. You don't have time for your personal life, for your parents, and your social circuit becomes very small because you are working day and night,' she said.

This will change everything,' a source said.

'Kitson is one of the most popular shops in L.A. and is a favourite among celebrities. It's one of the coolest boutiques, so for Cheryl to be offered her own range with her name at the helm is fantastic news.'

'The creators want to use her song title 'Fight For This Love' as the name for the range and are hoping she can design dresses and shoes as well as handbags.

London, May 5 (IANS) Drink lots of water and eat fruits and vegetables to have a glowing skin, says 'Slumdog Millionaire' star Freida Pinto who says she is not fond of cosmetics.

'I always wash my face before bed. I can't sleep with make-up on, even just a little bit. I like my skin clean. I wear sunscreen every day, that's my cardinal rule,' contactmusic.com quoted Freida, 25, as saying.

'I don't have too many beauty tips because I am not fond of wearing too much make-up but the first would be to drink a lot of water because water really cleanses your system and it keeps you fresh and your eyes looking fresh. I also recommend adding a lot of fruit and vegetables to your diet and not making it too meat centric,' she said.

London, May 5 (IANS) Supermodel Naomi Campbell, who is well-known for her outbursts, insists she is not a 'petulant diva' who throws phones at maids and slaps drivers when she doesn't get her own way - she gets enraged only when people she trusts let her down.

The 34-year-old beauty was punished for attacking airline staff on a British Airways flight and pleaded guilty to a charge of reckless assault against her employee Ana Scolavino, and was sentenced to five days community service in New York and ordered to attend two days of anger management classes in January 2007, reports dailystar.co.uk.

However, during the Oprah Winfrey Show, Campbell revealed she has calmed down since and learned to understand where her rage comes from.

'It comes from a deeper place than that with me. It comes from another type of emotional disorder because it's not just, if I don't get what I want I throw... It comes from, I think, an abandonment issue and it comes from also trying to just build up a family around me that's not my immediate family and if I feel a mistrust, then... all my cards go down,' Campbell said.

'I think it's also a fear issue because anger comes from fear... It's not an excuse, I don't have an excuse for my behaviour... I've taken that it's wrong,' she added.

Mumbai, May 4 (IANS) Akshay Kumar's just released 'Housefull' has broken the dry spell at the box office by earning Rs.64 crore in the opening weekend worldwide. The star says the secret of his success as a comedian is that he mimics common people around for most of his roles.

'The expression that you see are mostly stolen from the faces of common people. Normally mimicry is done of big actors, but it is fun to mimic those people who have no connection with this industry. So I copy common people without copyright (laughs),' Akshay, 42, told IANS in an interview.

'I travel a lot. Recently, I got stuck at the Frankfurt airport because of the volcano ashes incident. I had to wait long. So I sat down and looked around and people have something to offer. It's amazing just to register that and sometimes while playing a character, suddenly that comes out and you start acting like that person. That's what's called mimicry,' he added.

The actor has worked in more than 90 films in his almost two-decades-long career. In the beginning, he mostly featured in action movies like 'Khiladi', 'Elaan', 'Mohra' and 'Main Khiladi Tu Anari'. He also did romantic films like 'Yeh Dillagi', 'Dhadkan' and 'Dil Toh Paagal Hai'.

With Priyadarshan's 2000 hit film 'Hera Pheri', he forayed big time into comedies and tickled the audience's funny bone with his performance in comic capers like 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi', 'Garam Masala', 'Phir Hera Pheri', 'Namastey London', 'Bhagam Bhaag', 'Heyy Babby' and 'Singh Is Kinng'.

Akshay gives credit to three directors for grooming him as a comedian. 'I would like to thank three people who contributed hugely in whatever little comedy I have learnt. The three are Neeraj Vora, Priyadarshanji and Rajkumar Santoshi.

'Let me tell you comedy is a big, big, big space. The biggest comedian was Charlie Chaplin who could make people laugh without saying a word. Then we have Mr. Bean. They are amazing,' said Akshay.

Contrary to his on-screen image, the actor claims to be a introvert and serious kind of person in real life.

'I am a very introvert and serious person. Even if I joke around, that's limited to a vey few people I am comfortable with. They are my school and college friends. I do have a couple of friends from the industry as well.

'I am a workaholic. I work 24 hours. I have only one business, that's the film business. I don't have any film school degree. Whatever I have learnt is through my experience,' said Akshay.

So does he find it difficult to get into the skin of boisterous characters?

'Darling, the kind of cheque you get, you automatically start acting the way the director or producer wants (laughs) you to. How can that be hard then?'

Even after attaining such stardom, Akshay is connected with his past.

'Honestly, I am very close to everything that I used to do before this stardom. My old house, my old Fiat car, my motorbike - all are still there in running condition. Only the car's air-condition doesn't work, but the car is as good as it was when I bought it 24 years back,' said Akshay.

He has his hands full with Priyadarshan's 'Khatta Meetha', Nikhil Advani's 'Patiala House' and Farah Khan's 'Tees Maar Khan'.

(Dibyojyoti Baksi can be contacted at dibyojyoti.b@ians.in)
